Base fee:
  • For guest speakers and/or hosts only
  • The event is $5 per person. Lunch is optional at an additional $10 per person.

    You can pay online when you RSVP, or choose "invoice me" to pay at the door on the day of the event.

    Either way, registering for the event ahead of time helps us plan for adequate seating and meals for lunch, so we very much appreciate it!

8:30-9:15 Registration
Entry fee of $5.00 per person. May be paid 
in advance online (preferred) or by cash only at the door. Assorted breakfast snacks, fruit, coffee, and juice will be provided. Proceeds benefit Waterville Historical Society and Maine Old Cemetery Association. Breakfast refreshments and lunch will be served on the lower level of the church, accessible by stairs, a lift inside, or by the street level right side entrance.

8:30-12:00 Exhibits, Displays, Cemetery Projects
If you have a cemetery project you wish to share with others, please bring a display board, photos, or other related materials. Tables will be available to set up displays.

9:30-9:45 Bestowed Military Honors And Their Meaning
Veteran Central Maine police officer and author, Alden Weigelt, will present an overview of military honors you may see listed on gravestones within the cemeteries we visit.

9:45-10:15 The Unique History and Significance of GAR
How often have you seen GAR on a cast iron flag holder or on a gravestone and wondered more about the organization behind the acronym?

10-30-11 :15 MOCA Business Meeting
All are welcome to attend to hear what is happening with MOCA or you may view the displays at this time.

11:15-12:00 Buried Three Times….Or Were They?
Jessica Couture will present Mary Boulette’s research about moving many of Waterville’s founders from one burying place to another, and then to a third resting place.

12:00-1:00 Lunch
Lunch by MOCA will be a variety of finger rolls - egg, tuna, chicken, seafood, and ham salads - assorted chips, garden vegetable tray with dip, fresh fruit platter, water or soda and an assortment of local bakery dessert and pastry bites.

LUNCH RESERVATIONS REQUIRED BY MAY 26.

1:00 Tour of Pine Grove Cemetery
Plenty of parking is available at New Dimensions Federal Credit Union at 61 Grove Street across from the entrance arch of Pine Grove Cemetery.

Indoor option
We encourage you to take time to do the cemetery tour and indoor option! Visit the cemetery-related displays for our event in Waterville Historical Society’s meeting room and step back through time within the Apothecary, an amazing gem. Perhaps some of these medicines kept our relatives from an early grave!
