    Cheryl Swift will talk about her project in the Washington cemeteries to help identify and preserve data on older graves.

    Tolman Cemetery D.A.R. Project.

    Presentation of a project led by the D.A.R. to locate, identify, and honor the graves of veterans from the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 in Tolman Cemetery in Rockland.

    Bring your own brown bag lunch. Beverages and desserts will be provided by the Union Historical Society at no additional charge.

    1:00 Cemetery Tour

    Cheryl Swift and the head of the Washington Historical Society will lead a tour of one of the cemeteries in Washington, weather permitting. At this time, it is planned to visit a cemetery located in Washington village (about 5 miles from Union) with adequate parking space.

    • Evergreen Cemetery

    World War I Guided Walking Tour

    A new walking tour has been added for this summer at Evergreen Cemetery. This tour will focus on the Portland WWI fallen who are interred in Evergreen.

    This tour of Evergreen Cemetery as well as other are sponsored by the Friends of Evergreen. The tours are led by their experienced History Docent team of volunteers. You do not need to pre-register, just meet us by the cemetery office. on the day of the tour. Tours are free and open to the public.     The Maine Genealogical Society (MGS) will present the 2017 Maine Genealogical Fair on Saturday, July 8. 2017 from 9am to 2pm at the Maine State Library, 230 State Street, Augusta, Maine. Admission is free.

    The Fair will feature Maine genealogical and historical organizations. "Brick Wall Busters" are also back this year, better than ever.   Attendees will have a chance to meet one on one with a seasoned researcher for tips on finding that one elusive ancestor.     The Maine Genealogical Society is a non-profit charitable and educational organization. It was founded in 1976 to collect, exchange, preserve, and publish genealogical records, related documents, and information; and to promote and encourage interest and scholarship in genealogy and family history of the State of Maine.
