This year's Walk Through the Shadows theme is "The Bombardment of Falmouth, 1775", The 250th Anniversary of Maine's Baptism by Fire.
On October 8th, 1775, on the eve of the War of Independence, Captain Mowatt of the Canceaux was ordered by Admiral Graves to bombard Falmouth (now Portland) and burn the town to ashes.
On the 250th anniversary of this catastrophic event, you will hear from the spirits of participants, witnesses, and victims about the events leading up to, and including, the tragic destruction of Falmouth.
*Walk Through the Shadows is a production of Spirits Alive, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Portland’s historic Eastern Cemetery through a range of activities including promotion and education.
Your donations will directly support Spirits Alive.
