Base fee:
  • For guest speakers and/or hosts only
  • The event is $6 per person. Lunch is optional at an additional $10 per person.

    You can pay online when you RSVP, or choose "invoice me" to pay at the door on the day of the event.

    Either way, registering for the event ahead of time helps us plan for adequate seating and meals for lunch, so we very much appreciate it!

8:30 - 9:15 Registration

Entry Fee of $6.00 per person. May be paid at the door or in advance online (Preferred). Assorted breakfast snacks, fruit, coffee, and juice will be provided. Proceeds benefit Canton Historical Society and Maine Old Cemetery Association.

8:30 – 12:00 Exhibits, Displays, Cemetery Projects

If you have a cemetery project you wish to share with others, please bring a display board, photos, or other related materials. Tables will be available to set up displays.

9:15 - 9:30 Welcome

9:30 – 10:15 MOCA Business Meeting

All are welcome to attend to hear what is happening with MOCA or you may view the displays at this time.

10:15 - 10:30 Break

10:30 - 11:15 “The Cemetery Ladies” and their work in Canton’s Cemeteries!

The Cemetery Ladies are a group of volunteers who have been working for more than five years to preserve the cemeteries in Canton. The Ladies will discuss how they became interested in this work, how they found support to do it, and the work they have done.

11:15 – 12:00 Canton’s Cemeteries: Researching the Burials

This presentation is a follow-up to the preservation work done at Canton cemeteries. Volunteers and members of the historical society researched the people buried in the cemeteries to document and learn more about their lives.

12:00 - 1:00 Lunch

Lunch by the Canton Historical Society will be served in the presentation hall. Finger rolls, potato salad, garden salad, chips and a variety of desserts will be served. We will take a few minutes to put up tables & chairs after the final presentation.

1:00 - Tour of Pine Grove Cemetery

Meet us for a tour of the Pine Grove Cemetery where we will discuss the cemetery history, notable burials, and the work to preserve it. 179 Pleasant Street (Route 108), parking is available at the front of the cemetery or in the cemetery rows.

Indoor Option (we encourage you to take time to do the cemetery tour and indoor option.): A visit to the Canton Historical Society building, displays and memorabilia.

Parking is limited and we ask that spots directly in front of the building be reserved for those with mobility issues. Parking along the street is allowed. Additional parking is available behind the Big Apple Convenience Store at the Anasagunticook Dam Park & Boat Launch. From Turner street turn onto Staples Hill Road and then your next Right onto Old Railroad Grde. The Park is immediately on your Right.
