Our Stories, Past, Present, and Future will feature cemetery tours at three locations. The goal is to highlight the lives of some past residents who contributed in various ways to Island Falls.
The tour will be offered on three dates:
Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM
Friday, August 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM
Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM
- Each tour starts at the Tingley House Museum, 16 Nina Sawyer Rd, and then moves to the three cemeteries. Folks will need drive a short distance to each location. Some walking is required
- The narrative will last about an hour with time allowed at each location to explore.
- Two of the most famous of our residents are William W. Sewall and Wilmot S Dow who were the guides for Theodore Roosevelt during his summers in Island Falls.
- If folks only want to hear the bio’s or who have limited ability to walk or stand will be reading those bios at the Tingley House Museum
- Self-guided tours to the cemeteries are available.
- Following each tour, the group will return to the Island Falls Historical Society Museum at the Tingley House to see some of the artifacts and enjoy light refreshments.
Reservations are required, and will be available starting in early June. Although there is no admission fee, donations of $10 per person or more are suggested.
Private group tours for 10 or more are also available at a cost of $10 per person.
